Just as the name implies, garden decking is simply adding a deck area to your garden in which your children can play their board games or read a book without sitting on the grass while essentially still being in the garden area. If you want to completely change the way your garden area functions and appearance than one of the most fantastic ways to do that without having to re do the whole garden concept is by installing a garden decking. A garden decking would also give you the chance to decorate your garden with a whole different set of furniture that is not entirely different in purpose form any garden furniture but can have a little bit more variety to it such as different deck furniture sets and even a daybed without topping as some people prefer their deck to be convertible.

Garden DeckingThere are different types of materials used in garden decking that you can choose from when you decide to install one to your garden. Choosing one over another might prove to be difficult at times as some materials have their own pros and cons when compared to others. Hardwood decking for example is a very durable and beautiful to look at especially when you get the right people to install it for you. It has a natural look that makes it perfect for the garden. Wood garden decking however needs a lot of attention in the summer as changes in the weather may cause it to be damaged quite severely without proper maintenance. Although it has the perfect look and durability, hardwood needs a lot of maintaining and aside from being quite an expensive material; you would also need to hire experts to install it perfectly which would also cost you quite a sum of money.

Another popular material for garden decking is a composite material made from resin and recycled hardwood. This blend is designed to last a long time and has much more endurance against the elements when compared to ordinary hardwood. One of its competitors in weather endurance is the plastic decking. Unlike the plastic decking however the composite decking don’t contract and expand as much when it is exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. It is also available in many different coloring and sizes as it is manufactured from other woods instead of being cut down from a particular tree. Its many advantages however would cost you a considerable amount of money so if you want to install one on your garden you should be prepared financially beforehand.

If wood, plastic and even composite decking doesn’t quite fit your style then you could also try installing paving slabs decking. Stones are much more durable than wood or plastic and much more element resistant. They are also very affordable so you won’t have to spend a lot of money to get them. If you are not a wood person, using garden paving slabs for your garden decking can prove to be the best solution for you.
